First SNOW!!!

So.... I think the pictures are self explanatory here.  ;)  I went to get coffee with a friend (Kamilla, from Norway) and when we left the shop, IT WAS SNOWING!  This is just before Thanksgiving, which is VERY early for snow in Denmark.  But snow it did, and I enjoyed every second despite the extra chill in the air.  Which of course means that Kamilla laughed and laughed at the silly Southern 4 yrold who appeared in front of her---running around, face upturned, mouth open, eyes shining,  wandering into objects and the open street completely entranced by the strange wet whiteness floating around her.

Only negative here---no biking during snow season...That's pretty dangerous in my mind.

I think this is one of my favorite places in Copenhagen.  The intersection is always lit at night in some pretty way, and the snow made it even better!

bike trip to dyrehaven (elkpark)

on saturday carsten, merlin, elisa, their friend daniel and i went on a bike trip...we went north of copenhagen, along a street called strandvej, which means beach way.  the road lives up to its name--not so much in the beach sense--it follows the coastline and the oresund (and sweden) are visible most of the way.  we made several stops and detours--one to charlottelund, another to ermitagen castle, an unsuccessful apple pie pitstop at raadvad, and finally a snack (warm!) at strandmoellerkro.  (kro = pub/local restaraunt..)  along the way back we stopped to pick up groceries for a thai dinner at my place in taarnby. (and pecan pie with the pecans i found at the shop on stroget during kulturnatten)

A Night of Culture in Copenhagen

On October 15th, a total of more than 200 museums, churches, exhibition halls, galleries, political institutions, and other venues all over the city will open their doors, reflecting the broad cultural landscape of Copenhagen. Night of Culture has been an annual Copenhagen event siden 1993

Last year, I attended the same event when I was visiting Dk in October.  It is a truly special night---crowded to the point of annoyance--with an extra 60K people in Copenhagen (and surrounding neighborhoods) for the night.  With a button and ticket you get free transportation (bus, train, metro) for the entire night.  The various ministries, military, police, museums, libraries, universities, etc etc all over the city contribute to the events.  There were around 500 this year.
